The Midwinter
celebration is upon us!
WINTER
SOLSTICE
It's an exciting time with the Winter Solstice right around
the corner next Wednesday Dec. 21! This holiday, known as
Yule, is the longest night of the year and is a time to
celebrate the rebirth of the sun. It is a time for celebrating
all the brightness and beauty in your life. Light is what
this holiday is all about! There is peace and introspection
available to us during this long night of stillness and
quiet. There is rest after our long labors, and the joy
of knowing that dawn comes even to the longest night. Midwinter
is the time of longest darkness. Yet, it is also the time
of our greatest joy, for on this day the sun begins to strengthen
once again. The Earth needs the Sun to bring forth new life,
and at Yule, the Sun itself is reborn. This is the focus
of a Winter Solstice celebration. We celebrate all of the
things that brighten our lives, and we share this beauty
with our family and friends.
FULL
MOON in GEMINI
And my friends, today's Full Moon is the Oak Moon and holds
the playful spirit of Gemini! So it's a sparkling good time
to look fear straight in the eye and play with the possibility
of changing our fixed ideas. Since Full Moons are celebratory
events, it's a great time for a party. Invite a wide-ranging
group of people and let them experience a diverse set of
opinions and ideas while having fun! Gemini likes the lighter
side of things. So you can stick to a party centered on
networking. Or in the spirit of Gemini and Aquarius, be
a bit more daring and create and event to share and expand
knowledge.
BE
SOCIAL, have fun - don't sit home in isolation, throw
a holiday party or go to one you were going to skip!
Light a FIRE - celebrate the sun & her warmth with
a toasty fire. Write down blessings and offer them to
the flames.
Take
a Salt Bath: cleanse & purify yourself, letting go
of all that you are ready to release from the year before.
Imagine that as you pull the plug and drain the bath,
you release all that you let go of.
Breathe! This can be an insane & stressful time. Take
a moment to close you eyes, picture the most relaxing
place in your mind and take a deep breath. Even though
you may be running around, you can still keep breathing.
Tip
+ Create a YULE altar! Place a beautiful new white or red
candle at the center to represent the rising Sun! You can
also put mistletoe and holly on the altar, while you put
oak pieces in the fire. Choosing an altar cloth of green
will invoke the spirit of the north, but as always pick
the colors that feel right to YOU. The goddess is in labor
to birth the sun child. This is the time when the darkness
gives way to the light. What must you lose to the night?
What will you allow to transform and be birthed as the Wheel
of the Year turns?
